(Errors in artificial intelligence in translating the meanings of the Holy Quran)

Abstract

الحمدُ للهِ ربِّ العالمين الذي أنزلَ القرآنَ بلسانٍ عربيٍّ مبين وجعلَ اللغةَ العربيّةَ وعاءَ الوحيِ ومصدرًا للمعرفةِ والهدايةِ عبرَ القرون. ولا يخفى أنّ العربيّةَ بما تمتلكه من ثراءٍ دلاليٍّ وعمقٍ بيانيٍّ تمثّلُ تحدّيًا فريدًا أمامَ التقنياتِ الحديثةِ ولا سيّما أنظمةَ الذكاءِ الاصطناعيّ التي تسعى إلى معالجةِ النصوصِ وفهمِ المعاني على نحوٍ دقيق۔

يشهدُ العالمُ المعاصرُ ثورةً هائلةً في ميدانِ الذكاءِ الاصطناعيّ وقد امتدَّ تأثيرُها إلى مجالاتٍ متعدّدةٍ من بينها مجالُ ترجمةِ النصوصِ الدينيّةِ ولا سيّما ترجمةُ معاني القرآنِ الكريم. ومع انتشارِ الاعتمادِ على الأنظمةِ الآليّةِ في ترجمةِ النصوصِ المقدّسةِ برزتْ إشكالاتٌ علميّةٌ ودلاليّةٌ دقيقةٌ تستدعي الدراسةَ والتحليلَ النقديَّ المتأنّي۔

يهدفُ هذا البحثُ إلى الكشفِ عن طبيعةِ الأخطاءِ التي تقعُ فيها تقنيّاتُ الذكاءِ الاصطناعيّ عند ترجمةِ معاني القرآنِ الكريم وتحليلِ أبعادِها اللغويّةِ والدلاليّةِ والعقديّةِ والبلاغيّةِ مع بيانِ أثرِها على فهمِ النصِّ القرآنيّ لدى القارئ غيرِ العربيّ. كما يرصدُ البحثُ أسبابَ هذه الأخطاء مثل ضعفِ البياناتِ القرآنيّةِ في نماذجِ التعلّمِ الآليّ وغيابِ الإشرافِ البشريِّ المتخصّص وتفاوتِ الفهمِ السياقيِّ بينَ اللغةِ العربيّةِ ولغاتِ العالمِ الأخرى۔

اعتمدَ الباحثُ المنهجَ الوصفيَّ التحليليَّ مستنداً إلى مقارنةِ تراجمَ آليّةٍ بعددٍ من الترجماتِ المعتمدةِ لتحديدِ أنماطِ الأخطاءِ وتصنيفِها إلى لغويّةٍ ودلاليّةٍ وتأويليّةٍ وعقديّةٍ وبلاغيّةٍ۔

وتوصّلَ البحثُ إلى أنّ الاعتمادَ غيرَ المنضبطِ على الذكاءِ الاصطناعيِّ في ترجمةِ النصوصِ القرآنيّةِ قد يؤدّي إلى تشويهِ المعنى الأصليِّ وانحرافِ المقاصدِ الشرعيّةِ ممّا يستلزمُ وضعَ ضوابطَ علميّةٍ وأخلاقيّةٍ دقيقةٍ تُحدّدُ حدودَ استخدامِ هذه التقنياتِ في المجالِ الدينيّ. كما دعا البحثُ إلى ضرورةِ تطويرِ نماذجَ ترجمةٍ قرآنيّةٍ خاصّةٍ بإشرافِ علماءِ اللغةِ والتفسيرِ بما يضمنُ الجمعَ بينَ الدقّةِ التقنيّةِ والأمانةِ العلميّةِ في نقلِ معاني كتابِ الله إلى لغاتِ العالم۔

    Abstract : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, who revealed the Qur’an in a clear Arabic tongue and made the Arabic language the vessel of divine revelation and a source of knowledge and guidance throughout the ages. It is well known that Arabic—by virtue of its rich semantics and profound expressive depth—poses a unique challenge to modern technologies, especially artificial intelligence systems that strive to process texts and understand meanings with precision.

The modern world is witnessing a tremendous revolution in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), whose influence has extended to various domains — including the translation of religious texts, particularrly the translation of the meanings of the Holy Qur’an. With the increasing reliance on AI-based translation systems, several linguistic, semantic, and theological challenges have emerged, necessitating careful analytical and critical study.

This research aims to explore the nature of errors committed by artificial intelligence systems when translating the meanings of the Qur’an, while analyzing their linguistic, semantic, theological, and rhetorical dimensions. It also seeks to highlight the impact of such errors on the non-Arabic reader’s understanding of the Qur’anic message. Furthermore, the study identifies the underlying causes of these inaccuracies, such as the insufficiency of Qur’anic data in machine learning models, the absence of expert human supervision, and the contextual disparities between Arabic and other world languages.

The research adopts a descriptive and analytical methodology, comparing AI-generated translations with several authentic human translations in order to categorize and classify the observed errors into linguistic, semantic, interpretative, theological, and rhetorical types.

The findings reveal that uncontrolled reliance on AI translation systems in rendering Qur’anic texts may lead to distortion of the original meanings and deviation from the intended divine message. Therefore, the study emphasizes the urgent need for establishing precise scientific and ethical guidelines governing the use of AI in religious translation. It also calls for the development of specialized Qur’anic translation models under the supervision of linguists and scholars of tafsir, ensuring both technical accuracy and scholarly fidelity in conveying the meanings of the Holy Qur’an to the world.
